At Calistoga Dental Group, we focus on preventing disease and preserving healthy teeth. We strive to do this through regular dental cleanings, discussions about diet, and care for gum disease, cavities, and infections. When necessary, we can also restore damaged teeth. However, if extraction becomes necessary, we are well-equipped with the tools and knowledge to perform the procedure in a comfortable environment. If you are experiencing difficulties with your teeth or need any other type of dental care, please don't hesitate to call us at (707) 709-6058 for an appointment.

How We Perform a Tooth extraction?

If you need to have a tooth extracted, there are several methods we can employ. We will first administer an anesthetic so you feel no discomfort during the procedure; although you may feel pressure, the process should remain relatively relaxed and calm. When the tooth is fully grown and above the gum line, we use dental tools to wiggle it out of its socket. Our team will then clean the area and use gauze to stop bleeding while you recover. Oral surgery may be required if impacted teeth or those still embedded beneath the surface, such as wisdom teeth.

Mouth Care Instruction after Extracting Tooth

At Calistoga Dental Group, we use the least invasive methods to ensure a quick recovery for our patients. We typically advise them to have someone pick them up after their tooth extraction and recommend taking ibuprofen to ease swelling. They should drink lots of water for the first few days but avoid anything too hot or cold. We recommend using an ice pack and compressing the space for 15 minutes; repeat this daily. Our team advises you to rest and nap when possible and eat nourishing meals with soft foods that don't require much chewing. To make sure your teeth stay healthy, brush carefully around the surgical site, and rinse with baking soda or an antibacterial mouthwash. Lastly, we may ask you to return for a follow-up appointment.

Reach Our Dental Office for Safe Extraction of Tooth

At Calistoga Dental Group, we typically recommend wisdom teeth removal in the teenage years. General tooth removal is more common in our office. Many people experience dental issues due to age or witness severe infection or significant damage due to various factors.
