Does Invisalign® Treat Underbite, Overbite, and Crowded Teeth?
When wearing braces, the bite can be realigned using rubber bands that stretch from one of the brackets on the upper palate to a bracket on the underside of the jaw; Invisalign® also applies pressure to move teeth into the desired position. If misaligned teeth cause over or underbite, aligners are an ideal solution. Please remember that if you have a physical problem with your jaw, this could mean undergoing surgery and wearing aligners. Traditional braces would be more suitable for those whose misalignment cannot be corrected by using aligners.
At Calistoga Dental Group, we offer solutions for overcrowding through various methods. Wearing an expander is the most common way to straighten teeth with braces or Invisalign®, pushing the arch outward, making more room for your teeth. As this is the least invasive option, many patients prefer it. Alternatively, we may remove one or more teeth or shave off small portions of the enamel to create adequate space.

What is Better for You, Invisalign® or Braces?
Orthodontic treatment (including Invisalign®) can take up to two years to produce visible results. However, even mild cases usually require a year of treatment, with an average of 18 months. Fortunately, Invisalign® makes it easier to continue eating whatever you desire while making oral hygiene more convenient as they are removable. Besides, the clear aligners mean no visible impact on your appearance, making your smile even brighter!
